The following items are gained from using Salvage in one form or another:

Tier 1

• Inferior healing potion (Humanoid)
• Inferior magic potion (Humanoid)
• gem (Humanoid/Undead)
• Ingot (Humanoid)

Tier 2

• purple potion (Humanoid)

Tier 3

• Greater healing potion (Humanoid)
• Greater magic potion (Humanoid)
• treasure map (Humanoid/Undead)

Tier 4

• Superior healing potion (Humanoid)
• Superior magic potion (Humanoid)
• Ancient dungeon key (Humanoid/Undead)
• treasure map (Humanoid/Undead)

As you can see Salvaging on non Humanoid/Undead classified monsters will not provide items.
