Combat plays a large part of the game, while you could play the game without really getting into the combat side of things such a do crafting or raise auxillary skills, you will have had to fight a few monsters to do it.
It is not possible to do all of the Tutorial without killing anything, as there isnt enough "alternative" quests available.
So to that end this will hopefully be a really useful guide on Combat!
Combat is a fairly complicated system so forgive me if this guide rambles on a bit.
Combat is initiated by Attacking someone, if you wish to attack a monster simply click on it to start the fight, it may be possible to attack things other than monsters in which case moving the mouse over your target and clicking Attack will perform the same function.
